2025 Speeches

Did you miss the announcements and speeches from our event on November 15th, 2025? Here you can find some of what we shared and important information from our most recent event!

Beginning of the Night Speech

Thank you all for coming out tonight to celebrate our 8th annual event! We are truly grateful for your support, as well as the generosity of our donors. Tonight, we gather not only in appreciation but also with a shared purpose: to raise money and awareness for four important organizations that have touched our community—whether through loved ones, friends, or individuals we know personally.
The battles against Alzheimer’s, brain aneurysms, brain cancers, and ovarian cancer are long and difficult, but thanks to ongoing advancements, there is more hope than ever before. Each table this evening represents one of these organizations, and we invite you to explore the information provided to learn more about their work and impact.   Thank you again for being here and for standing with us in support of these vital causes.

Speech in honor of Harold Ranck

In honor of Harold Ranck-Alzheimer’s.
It’s began with a little forgetfulness and atypical behavior which we never questioned because everyone is just getting older. Unfortunately as Alzheimer’s progresses the person we love over time slips into a vacant stare and everyone’s lives change forever. The hardest part is you never get to say goodbye, the person you loved is already gone.
We hope tonight’s event raises awareness and a little money to advance today’s medicine that slows the progression to a medicine to stop the disease. Thank you for coming tonight.

Speech in honor of Myrna Weisberg

My name is Cara Weiss, and I am the founder of the charitable organization Rockin’ 4 a Cause. Nearly 15 years ago, I created this event to raise awareness and funds for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.

In 2004, my mother, Myrna Weisberg, passed away suddenly on Passover Eve. Her loss came as a devastating shock to all of us. She was vibrant, happy, and had shown no signs of any health concerns. It was only after her examination that we learned she had died from a brain aneurysm—something that might have been prevented with routine screening and greater public awareness.

It is because of organizations like the Brain Aneurysm Foundation as well as the other important organizations that are part of this overall event, all of the dedicated Co Chairs and most importantly supporters like yourselves, that these critical causes are steadily making their way into the mainstream. Your presence helps shine a light on the importance of education, early detection, and support for families affected by these conditions.

Speech in honor of Rachel Rabinovitz

One of the amazing groups we are supporting tonight is Rachel’s Racers.

Rachel’s Racers is the team started by Rachel Rabinovitz and her family after she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2021.  Glioblastoma is the deadliest brain tumor and sadly, Rachel passed away just 10 months after her diagnosis at the age of 24.

Rachel’s Racers is a team that participates in the Race for Hope DC that raises money for the National Brain Tumor Society. The National Brain Tumor Society is dedicated to raising awareness for brain tumors, finding treatments and cures, and improving the quality of life for patients and their families.

If anyone would like to participate in the Race for Hope DC on Sunday, May 3, 2026, please see Rachel’s mom, Kathy Savits, for information.

In honor of Dyan Elovich

Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent killer,” a disease that can grow quietly before it’s discovered. It tests strength, faith, and the human spirit in ways few can imagine. Watching someone you love face it with courage and grace leaves an indelible mark. We lost a very incredible friend, mother  and wife to ovarian cancer—Dyan met every challenge with dignity, laughter, and unwavering love. Though her body grew weak, her spirit never did.
And that’s why we’re here tonight — to raise awareness, to honor her memory, and to remember all those whose strength continues to inspire us.
